2025 Art Poster

Each year for over four decades, the Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission's annual art poster has showcased a different, talented local artist. This tradition lives on in 2025. Poster donations help support the Commission's mission and programs: fostering public participation, increasing access, and forging alliances in support of local arts, culture, and history.

About the Artwork:

Helen Klebesadel - Artist Statement

Wisconsin artist Helen Klebesadel has made Dane County her home for over forty years. Her visual concerns run the gamut from careful study to poetic, symbolic and sometimes political representations of nature and human nature. With watercolor as her medium of choice, Helen’s recent paintings focus on prairie ecosystems.  Her works explore the native and not so native forbs that make prairies so beautiful, as well as the pollinators and other songbirds that depend upon them.  Prairies are one of the rarest and most endangered ecosystems in the world.  Happily, the Dane County Park System contains over 9,000 acres of natural areas that include prairies, wetlands, oak woodlands, and forests that inspire her art. Helen desires her paintings to encourage us to help do what we must to save the prairies, pollinators, songbirds, and perhaps, in so doing, learn how to save ourselves.
