Projects supported by Dane Arts must:
In 2 grant cycles per year, several hundred thousand dollars from local public and private sources are distributed among approximately 150 awards. Individual grants ranging from $500 to several thousand dollars serve citizens and residents of Dane County and help leverage additional millions of dollars from other sources.
New applicants must reach out to Dane Arts prior to applying (please contact Augusta Brulla at brulla.augusta@danecounty.gov or 608-283-1475).
Take a 2-3 minute Pre-Eligibilty Survey to see if you meet the basic requirements. Additional eligibility and project requirements are listed under “Learn More” for each grant.
*Dane Arts rarely provides primary financial support. Grants are designed to help leverage additional funds from other sources and foster applicants' success in securing diverse funding.
If you are interested in serving on the grant panel, please fill out the Dane Arts Grant Panelist Application Form.
Each grant cycle focuses upon primary activities that happen within certain date parameters and applies to a specific 14-month project period. Grant cycle project periods are defined as follows:
Important: Applicants may not submit more than one Project Grant Application per cycle. You must choose to apply to either the Project Grant or the Short-Order Project Grant, not both.
Project grants are designed to support specific projects or programs that have a distinct budget, personnel, and timeframe spanning a relatively short duration.
Short-Order Project Grants have a simplified application process, tied to a smaller grant award for small organizations or for individuals applying.
Capital grants are designed to support capital projects, such as equipment purchases, permanent exhibits, building construction, improvements and expansion, or historic preservation initiatives (applicant must own the building).
